When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password. We do not store passwords in plain text.

Conversation Data

We store conversations you have with our AI bots (Friday, Simba, and Cosmo). This includes your messages and the AI-generated responses.

Dog Profile Data

Through conversations, our system may automatically extract information about your dog (such as name, breed, age, and behaviour patterns) to provide more personalised advice. This extraction happens silently in the background to improve your experience.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage information including message counts, model preferences, and session data to improve the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and personalise the 2dog service
• To improve service quality and AI response accuracy
• To develop and train AI models, including potential future custom models
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To communicate with you about your account or service changes

4. Data Sharing with Third Parties

To generate AI responses, your conversation data is processed by third-party AI model providers through OpenRouter. Depending on the model selected, your data may be processed by:

• Anthropic (Claude models)
• OpenAI (GPT models)
• Google (Gemini models)

These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Payment Processing

Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment information directly — we do not store credit card numbers or payment details on our servers.

5. Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We may use analytics tools to understand how the service is used. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and conversation history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised or aggregated data used for service improvement may be retained indefinitely.

Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR for EU/EEA users), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including encrypted passwords (bcrypt), secure authentication tokens (JWT), and HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Your data is stored on secured servers with MongoDB Atlas.

2dog is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
